I am José Marçal, a 21 year old student for Nova IMS.I'm hardworking, passionate, collaborative, a team player and quick learner, and above all else passionate about programming, mathematics and learning. Willing to do whatever it takes to achieve the goals of myself and my team, and always striving to improve and meet the high standards I set for myself.

• Basketball: I have been playing basketball since I was 10 years old, first for Física Torres Vedras and now for Nova. Throughout this journey, I was the captain of my youth team, which taught me how to lead by example, how to motivate your team and the power of discipline and consistency, and won a National Championship for the South region in the under-21 category in 2021. Besides the collective success, I have also been nominated for Athlete of the Year.
• Chess: Since the beggining of the pandemic when I started taking up chess as a hobby, I have increased my rating upwards of 2000 online and was a part of a Nova team that competed in the National University Team Championship in 2022. Chess has taught me the importance of staying alert for opportunities at all times, and how to remain calm under the pressure of insufficient time and data.
• Volunteering: I have done volunteering work for my local parish twice, as part of a team responsible for collecting food for a food bank. This experience reinforced my beliefs in the importance of patience and generosity to those around you.
