I am a hardworking, dedicated and extremely passionate Primary School Teacher, specialising in the Early Years. I have over twenty two years experience. I have great energy, I am very creative, flexible and positive. I am able to use all of these skills when supporting and guiding children through the most exciting "Learning Journeys".
I am skilled in planning yearly, termly, weekly and daily, being able to adapt plans to suit the specific needs and (changing) interests of children. Having a great knowledge of "Birth To Five Matters" has supported me in ensuring children are able to learn skills, achieve targets, celebrate progress and to continue achieving in all areas of learning, Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Communication and Language Physical Development, Literacy, Mathematics, Expressive Arts and Understanding Of The World. Working with a 'Montessori' approach has been central to my work over the past eight years.
In addition to this I have worked on writing social stories for students, supporting them with challenges that may arise. I have worked on using outdoor learning to enhance the curriculum and using nature in our classrooms to support a number of projects.
Creating environments that are inspiring, truly warm, caring and compassionate is my specialism.
Over the past eight years I have worked in the Foundation Stage, working with children aged three to five years. I have been able to develop skills as a team player, working with six teachers, six assistants, an Educational Psychologist and Occupational Therapist. This experience has supported my ability to thrive in a team environment, learning from others and sharing skills. Together we have worked with a 'Montessori' approach and have constantly adapted our teaching, our learning and environment to suit the needs and interests of the children.
I have worked with families from all over the world. Developing communication skills has been central to my work and I am naturally skilled in using communication as the connection to supporting children in making progress and in celebrating 'The Joy Of Learning'.
During my time at Waterloo Primary School I worked in Year Three, Year One and in the Foundation Stage.
Here I implemented early phonics programmes and worked on projects, such as 'The Big Talk and The Big Write'.
Here I led the school as 'International Coordinator.
I supported children , families and teachers from all over the world, celebrating cultures, learning about and from these.
